BRIEF: McDonald's longtime board chairman to retire

April 07--McDonald's longtime Chairman Andrew McKenna plans to retire, the Oak Brook company said Wednesday.

It's a notable loss for the company. McKenna, 86, has been nonexecutive chairman at McDonald's for 12 years and a director for 25 years.

A replacement is expected to be elected at the company's annual shareholder meeting on May 26. McKenna will get the title "chairman emeritus."

"Andy's leadership helped guide McDonald's through some noteworthy highs and some challenging times," said Miles White, chairman of the board's governance committee, in a statement.

McKenna also serves as a trustee of Ronald McDonald House Charities and as chairman emeritus of the Museum of Science and Industry and the University of Notre Dame. He's on the board of the Big Shoulders Fund of the Archdiocese of Chicago, the Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital, the Lyric Opera and the United Way of Metropolitan Chicago, among others.
