BRIEF: 'Marvel Experience' tour's stop in Chicago canceled

July 06--Chicago's stop on the "Marvel Experience" tour, billed as an interactive indoor theme park for Marvel comic book fans, has been canceled, officials announced Sunday.

Fans were supposed to be able to climb a wall like Spider-Man and interact with superheroes including Iron Man, Captain America and Thor during the show, which was scheduled to be at McCormick Place Saturday through Aug. 2. Ticket-holders received an email Sunday night the Chicago event had been canceled.

A spokesman for the tour did not say why the Chicago stop and stops in New York City and St. Louis were canceled. The tour's two-week stay in Philadelphia ended Sunday.

"Fans can expect a fully immersive experience that puts them in the center of the action using cutting edge technology and incredible digital effects. To say it's an exhilarating experience would be an understatement," tour promoter Stephen Shaw said in a statement when the tour was announced.

Refunds for the tickets, which ranged from $25 to $45 for the Chicago shows, will be provided.
