BRIEF: Mariano's recalls butternut squash ravioli for cashews, almonds

Nov. 26--Butternut squash ravioli made in Italy and sold at Mariano's grocery stores are being recalled because they may contain cashews or almonds that could cause "serious or life-threatening allergic reaction," according to a company statement from the Italian supplier Bertagni 1882 SpA.

The private label product is packaged locally as "Simply Roundy's Natural Authentic Italian Sweet Butternut Squash Ravioli." It's sold in Roundy's stores, including Mariano's stores in Illinois, and Copps, Pick 'n Save and Metro Market stores in Wisconsin. About 55,000 units are being recalled.

There have been no injuries or illnesses reported in connection with the ravioli, the Bertagni statement said. Customers can return the product to the store for a full refund and contact quality@bertagni1882.it for more information.
