BRIEF: Marian Catholic sophomore remembered as a 'smiling spirit'

Dec. 12--The Chicago Tribune Media Group's SouthtownStar reports: Lynwood police are investigating the death of a Marian Catholic High School sophomore who inadvertently shot himself while talking to a friend through an online video.

Police were called Thursday after 8 p.m. to the 2700 block of Lake Park Drive, where they found a young man at home, "slumped over his chair at his desk with what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head," according to a statement from Lynwood Police Chief Russell L. Pearson. A .38 caliber handgun was found under the chair, the statement said.

"All indications point to an accidental shooting at this time," the statement said. For the full report, go to the SouthtownStar
