Man fatally shot in Logan Square; 3 others injured in separate shootings

April 08--A man was killed and three other people were wounded in separate shootings since Tuesday afternoon on the Far South, North and Northwest sides.

A 24-year-old man died after being shot around 2:55 a.m. Wednesday in the 2700 block of West Bloomingdale Avenue in the Logan Square neighborhood on the Northwest Side, police said.

The man was walking in the area when an attacker came out of a light-colored vehicle and fired shots, striking the man in the armpit, said Officer Stacey Cooper.

The gunman went back in the vehicle and fled northbound through a nearby alley, Cooper said.

The man, 24, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was pronounced dead, Cooper said.

The Cook County medical examiner's office confirmed they were notified of the fatality but could not provide additional information.

At the scene, police officers blocked off a section off of Bloomingdale between Washtenaw and Fairfield avenues with yellow and red crime tape.

A couple of yellow markers, indicating shell casings and other evidence, were in the middle of the crime scene.

Most recently, a 25-year-old man was wounded in a shooting around 5:45 a.m. also in the Logan Square neighborhood, Cooper said.

The man was in the 3000 block of North Kedzie Avenue when he suffered a graze wound to the back of his head, Cooper said.

He was taken to Community First Medical Center, where he was listed in fair condition, Cooper said.

No other information was immediately available.

Around 3:15 a.m., a 22-year-old man was shot during an attempted robbery in the West Pullman neighborhood on the Far South Side, said police spokeswoman Officer Amina Greer.

The man was walking in the 11900 block of South Michigan Avenue when an unknown gunman came up to him and announced a robbery, Greer said. A struggle ensued and the attacker's gun went off, striking the man.

The attacker fled without taking anything, Greer said.

The man was hit in the leg and took himself to Roseland Community Hospital where his condition stabilized, Greer said.

As of early Wednesday, no one was in custody in connection to the shootings.

Earlier Tuesday, a 27-year-old man was shot in the Uptown neighborhood, police said.

The man was found with gunshot wounds about 2:45 p.m. in the 4700 block of Broadway. Police said the man was sitting in the driver's seat of a car when someone in another car shot him.

He was shot in the chest, arm and leg and taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in serious condition, authorities said.

No other information was available.
