May 07--Two men were killed and at least 28 other people, including a 16-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy, have been wounded in shootings since late Friday morning across the city, according to Chicago police.
A 30-year-old man was shot to death about 1:41 a.m. Saturday in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side, said Officer Ron Gaines, a Chicago police spokesman.
Police officers discovered the man unresponsive inside a vehicle in the 7400 block of South Union Avenue, Gaines said.
The man was shot in the chest, and he was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead, Gaines said.
At the scene of the shooting, officers cordoned off a section of the one-way Union Avenue north of a viaduct with red crime tape.
Inside the crime scene, detectives and police officers shone flashlights on a dark-colored car that appeared to crash into the back of parked vehicle on the street.
The dark-colored car had its emergency lights on and its front passenger's door open.
A 29-year-old man was shot to death and two other men were wounded during a shooting about 8:10 p.m. Friday at a party in the Grand Crossing neighborhood on the South Side, police said.
The three men were at a party outside in the 7600 block of South Maryland Avenue when someone in a passing vehicle drove by and fired shots into the crowd, Gaines said.
The 29-year-old man, identified as Terrell Berkhart of the 9200 block of South Dobson Street, was shot in the abdomen. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead at 8:53 p.m., according to police and the Cook County medical examiner's office.
A 26-year-old man was shot in the back, and he was also taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where his condition stabilized, Gaines said.
A 40-year-old man was hit in the hand. He was taken to Jackson Park Hospital, where his condition stabilized, Gaines said.
No one was immediately in custody as a result of the shooting.

Most recently, a person was wounded in a shooting on the Stevenson Expressway at 6:18 a.m., according to Illinois State Police.
A 22-year-old man was the sole occupant of a black SUV traveling in the southbound lanes of Interstate 55 north of Central Avenue when someone fired shots from a silver Volkswagen SUV, according to Illinois State Police.
The victim was in the center lane when the Volkswagen pulled up on the passenger's side of his vehicle and opened fire, hitting him four times in the lower extremities, according to a statement from Illinois State Police.
The 22-year-old pulled off to the right shoulder and was taken to MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn in serious condition, the statement said.
A witness saw a black gun displayed from the Volkswagen, which was last seen south on Central Avenue.
No one in custody and as of 9 a.m. all lanes have been reopened, ISP said.
About 4 a.m., a 25-year-old man was wounded in a shooting in the University Village neighborhood, Gaines said.
The man was in a vehicle in the 1300 block of West Roosevelt Road when an unknown attacker in another vehicle fired shots at him, hitting him twice in the arm, Gaines said.
The man drove himself to Stroger Hospital, where he was listed in good condition, Gaines said.
About 3:30 a.m., a 25-year-old man and a 23-year-old man were wounded in a shooting in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side, Gaines said.
The two men were in the 3200 block of West Maypole Avenue when they were shot. The older man was shot in the face, and he was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition, Gaines said.
The 23-year-old was hit five times in the torso, and he was also taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in fair condition, Gaines said.
The circumstances of the shooting were not immediately available.
About 3:25 a.m., a 39-year-old man walked into Stroger Hospital after getting shot in the abdomen, Gaines said.
The man was in the 6100 block of South Saint Lawrence Avenue when he was shot. His condition stabilized at the hospital, police said.
About 3:05 a.m., a 24-year-old woman was wounded in a shooting in the North Austin neighborhood on the West Side, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago police spokeswoman.
The woman was outside in the 1200 block of North Mason Avenue when an unknown attacker pulled out a gun and started shooting, Sedevic said.
The woman was hit in the foot, and she was taken to West Suburban Medical Center, where she was listed in good condition, Sedevic said.
About 3 a.m., a 38-year-old man was wounded in a shooting in the West Englewood neighborhood on the South Side, Gaines said.
The man was outside in the 6700 block of South Claremont Avenue when he heard gunshots and realized he was struck in the leg, Gaines said.
He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he was listed in good condition, Gaines said.
Around the same time, about 2:59 a.m., a 25-year-old man was wounded in a shooting in the West Town neighborhood, Gaines said.
The man was sitting in a car in the 500 block of North Marshfield Street when an unknown male attacker walked up to him and fired shots, striking him in the shoulder, Gaines said.
The man was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was listed in good condition, Gaines said.
About 2:30 a.m., a 20-year-old man was wounded in a shooting in the Heart of Chicago neighborhood, Gaines said.
The man was walking outside in the 2000 block of South Wolcott Avenue when he hear gunshots and realized he was struck, Sedevic said. He was shot in the foot, and he managed to get to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in good condition, Sedevic said.
About 2:36 a.m., a 25-year-old man was wounded in a shooting in the Parkway Gardens neighborhood on the South Side, Gaines said.
The man was walking in the 6400 block of South King Drive when he heard gunshots and realized he was struck in the foot. He was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center, where his condition stabilized, Gaines said.
About 2 a.m., an 18-year-old man was shot in the arm in the West Englewood neighborhood on the South Side, Gaines said.
The man told police he was in the 6300 block of South Ashland Avenue when he was shot. He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition stabilized, Gaines said.
Police said the man is a documented gang member and that he was being uncooperative.
About 1:20 a.m., a 25-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman were wounded in a shooting in the Lithuanian Plaza neighborhood on the South Side, Gaines said.
The man and the woman were leaving a party in the 6900 block of South Campbell Avenue when an unknown attacker started firing shots, Gaines said.
The man was shot in the hand. He was taken to Holy Cross Hospital, and he was later transferred to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in good condition, Gaines said.
The woman was struck in the leg. She was in Holy Cross Hospital, where she was listed in good condition, Gaines said.
About 12:25 a.m., a 24-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy were wounded in a shooting in the South Austin neighborhood on the West Side, Gaines said.
The two were in the 5200 block of West Congress Parkway when they were shot. The 24-year-old man was hit in the leg, and he managed to get to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in good condition, Gaines said.
The 15-year-old was shot in the hand. He walked into Loretto Hospital for treatment, and he was also in good condition, Sedevic said.
About 11:40 p.m., a 16-year-old girl was wounded in a shooting in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side, Sedevic said.
The girl was outside in the 700 block of West 61st Place when a silver SUV pulled up and someone inside it fired shots, Sedevic said.
The girl was struck in the thigh, and she was taken to St. Bernard Hospital by her friends. Her condition stabilized at the hospital, Sedevic said.
About 11:16 p.m., a 30-year-old man and a 26-year-old man were wounded in crossfire during a shooting in the Washington Park neighborhood on the South Side, Gaines said.
The two men were walking near 51st Street and King Drive when a black SUV pulled up and someone inside it starting shooting. Another person outside fired back at the SUV, and the two men were wounded during the crossfire, Gaines said.
The older man was shot in the leg. He was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition. The 26-year-old was struck in the foot, and he was taken to Mercy Hospital and Medical Center, where he was also listed in good condition, Gaines said.
About 11:01 p.m., a 23-year-old man was wounded in a drive-by shooting about 11:01 p.m. in the Gresham neighborhood on the South Side, Gaines said.
The man was near 80th Street and Union Avenue when someone in a passing silver vehicle fired shots at him, striking him in the knee, Gaines said.
The man was taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital, where he was listed in good condition, Gaines said.
About 10:09 p.m., a 25-year-old man was wounded in a drive-by shooting in the Roseland neighborhood on the Far South Side, Gaines said.
The man was in the 10700 block of South Champlain Avenue when someone in a passing vehicle fired shots at him, striking him in the knee, Gaines said.
He was taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital, where his condition stabilized, Gaines said.
About 9:51 p.m., a 22-year-old man was wounded in a shooting about 9:51 p.m. in the Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side, Gaines said.
The man was standing on a curb in the 2200 block of South Kirkland Avenue when a black Chevrolet SUV pulled up to him. An attacker came out of the car and fired shots, Gaines said.
The man suffered several gunshot wounds. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in fair condition, Gaines said.
A 20-year-old man was shot at 8:39 p.m. on the 7600 block of South Euclid Avenue in the South Shore neighborhood, said Officer Thomas Sweeney, a police spokesman. Police earlier gave the address on Jefferey Boulevard but corrected the information.
The victim was shot in the leg and was taken to Stroger Hosptial where his condition had stabilized.
About 2:47 p.m., a 30-year-old man was wounded in a shooting in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side, police said.
The man was near the intersection of Wabansia and Harding avenues when he was shot, Sweeney said.
The man suffered a gunshot wound to the wrist, and was taken to Norwegian American Hospital, Sweeney said.
Two shootings occurred late Friday morning, wounding three people.
A 20-year-old man was shot around 10 a.m. Friday on the 900 block of North Pulaski Road on the city's West Side. He suffered a gun shot wound to the back and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition, according to Sedevic, who added no one was in custody.
In a separate attack around 10:30 a.m., a 17-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy were wounded in a shooting in the Humboldt Park neighborhood, Sedevic said.
The two teens were sitting on a porch in the 3500 block of West Chicago Avenue when an attacker walked up and fired shots, Sedevic said.
The 16-year-old was shot in the head, and he was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition, Sedevic said.
The 17-year-old was hit in the thigh and calf. He walked into Norwegian American Hospital where he was treated and released, Sedevic said.
Police said the older teen is a documented gang member.
Police were investigating.
