Jan. 26--Three men were wounded, one of them critically, in shootings on the West Side, while a 16-year-old boy was shot in the leg in a South Side attack Sunday, police said.
In the most recent shooting, a 19-year-old man suffered gunshot wounds to the chest and neck in the city's East Garfield Park neighborhood, said Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Thomas Sweeney.
The man was riding in a van on the 3800 block of West Gladys Avenue about 3:45 p.m. when someone fired shots from outside, said Sweeney.
He was taken in serious condition to Stroger Hospital. As of 5 p.m., Sweeney said the boy's condition had been stabilized.
In a separate shooting, a 38-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the head in the 2400 block of South St. Louis Avenue about 12:50 p.m., according to police. The man was in critical condition, but information on the hospital at which he was being treated was not immediately available from the Chicago Police Department Office of News Affairs.
About 12:20 p.m. in the West Englewood neighborhood, a 16-year-old boy suffered a gunshot wound to the leg in the 7300 block of South Damen Avenue, said Police News Affairs Officer Janel Sedevic. New Affairs' information indicated that the boy's condition had been stabilized, but hospitalization information for him was not immediately provided.
Information regarding the circumstances of the shooting were not yet available.
About 7:30 a.m. on the 1600 block of South Hamlin Avenue, another man was shot, said Sedevic.
According to preliminary reports, a 22-year-old man was riding in a vehicle when he was shot in his leg, said Sedevic. The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was listed in good condition.
No one was in custody for the Lawndale shooting and police were investigating.
