BRIEF: Man wounded in drive-by on West Side

Nov. 19--A 22-year-old man was wounded Thursday morning in a shooting on the West Side in the city's Austin neighborhood.

The shooting happened about 9:30 a.m. in the 5700 block of West Augusta Boulevard, said Officer Bari Lemmon, a Chicago police spokeswoman.

According to preliminary information, the victim was riding in a vehicle when a gunman in a passing vehicle fired shots in his direction. Someone then drove the victim to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, and he was being treated for gunshot wounds to the arm and back, Lemmon said.

No one was in custody, and Area North detectives were investigating.
