Aug. 31--A Bay Area bartender is flying high after he won $1 million with a $20 bill he found outside of San Francisco International Airport.
California lottery officials say the man, Hubert Tang, was outside the airport Wednesday when he found the bill, which he used to buy a pair of scratchers at a market in Millbrae.
It was his first time playing the lottery in 10 years, he said.
"I told my friend who I was with that I didn't know if it was real but, 'I think I just won a million dollars," Tang said, according to a release from the state lottery.
Tang said he'll put the money in savings. The store where he bought the ticket will get $5,000, officials said.
Earlier this year, lottery officials were looking for another lucky customer who'd purchased a $1-million Powerball ticket and hadn't claimed the winnings. Winners have 180 days to claim a prize and despite a media blitz by the state lottery to help identify the man, no winner ever came forward.
