BRIEF: Man who robbed Lakeview East bank suspected in 2 other heists

Jan. 28--Officials on Wednesday released photographs of a man who robbed a Lakeview East neighborhood bank this week and is suspected in two other bank robberies in the city in the last month.

The man robbed a Byline Bank, 742 W. Diversey Parkway, about 2:35 p.m. Tuesday, according to the FBI's BanditTrackerChicago website.

The man entered the bank and demanded money, implying that he had a handgun, said Officer Thomas Sweeney, a Chicago police spokesman. No one was injured in the robbery, he said.

The man took cash and fled the bank, Sweeney said.

The man also is suspected of robbing a branch of American Eagle Bank, 2255 N. Western Ave., about 8:17 a.m. Jan. 15, and a branch of U.S. Bank, 2131 S. China Place, about 11:15 a.m. Dec. 28, according to the FBI.

The man is described a black man, standing 6 feet to 6 feet, 4 inches, with a slender to medium build. In the robbery Tuesday, he was wearing a black White Sox cap, a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.

A reward is being offered for information that helps authorities arrest the man. Anyone with information is asked to call the Chicago office of the FBI, 312-421-6700.
