BRIEF: Man who exposed himself to girl sought

July 04--Chicago police issued a community alert Friday after a man attempted to expose himself this week to a young girl on the West Side.

The incident happened about 10:30 a.m. July 1 as the girl played in a backyard in the 4000 block of West 5th Avenue, police said.

As the girl was playing in the backyard the man called out to her and exposed himself, police said. The girl fled the yard and notified an adult who called police. The man fled east down an alley.

The man is described as black, between 40 and 60 years old, dark-skinned, between 5 foot 10 inches and 6 feet tall, with a slight to medium build, with short graying hair and slight graying facial hair on his cheeks.

He was wearing a black T-shirt, black or blue jeans, black shoes and a dark-colored hat or hood.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Special Investigations Unit at (312) 492-3810.
