BRIEF: Man was stabbed to death in Englewood, not shot: Authorities

May 31--A man who police initially thought may have died of a gunshot wound to the chest in Englewood last week was stabbed to death, authorities said Tuesday.

Marshawn A. Cooper, 22, was found in a car in the 7200 block of South Aberdeen Street about 12:15 a.m. Friday, according to officials. The Cook County medical examiner's office determined later that day that Cooper had died of a stab wound to the chest, a spokeswoman said Tuesday.

Police found Cooper, of the 3600 block of West 120th Street in Alsip, in the car and initially believed he had been shot in the chest.

No one is in custody.
