BRIEF: Man tries to lure 2 girls into his car on Southwest Side

March 09--Police are looking for a man who tried to lure two girls into his car Saturday afternoon on the Southwest Side.

The girls were in the 5800 block of South Kostner Avenue in the West Elsdon neighborhood when a man attempted to get them inside his black SUV around 4 p.m., according to a statement from the Chicago Police Department's Office of News Affairs.

The girls refused and ran. The man then went around the block, waited for the two to appear and asked again if they needed a ride, according to the statement.

The girls ran into a business where they called police.

The suspect is a Hispanic man and about 35 to 45 years old. He has black hair and a mustache. He was wearing a royal blue T-shirt or sweatshirt, according to the statement.

The man's car was possibly a Jeep.

Police urged residents not to let children walk or play alone.

Anyone with information about the incident or the suspect and his car should call Area Central detectives at 312-747-8380.
