BRIEF: Man tried to lure child on Northwest Side: police

Oct. 08--Police are searching for a man who tried to lure a girl Tuesday on the Northwest Side in the Cragin neighborhood, according to a news release.

The girl was walking in the 5000 block of West Dickens Avenue at about 4:45 p.m. when a man gestured toward her and said "come here, I'll give you clothes or food."

The girl's classmate called her and she ran across the street, police said. The man went into an apartment building and exited into an alley.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic man 25-30 years old, about 5-foot-7 and weighing 180 pounds. He has brown eyes and short dirty blonde hair. He was wearing sweatpants, a gray cap and a gray sweater partially unzipped over a blue Bears hoodie.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call Chicago police at 312-744-8200.
