BRIEF: Man struck and killed by Metrolink train in Covina

Feb. 02--A man was struck and killed by a Metrolink train in Covina on Tuesday morning, triggering several cancellations across the rail system.

A woman called authorities about 7:21 a.m. to report that a man had been struck by a train at Sunflower Avenue near Cienega Avenue and Covina Boulevard, said Sgt. Vicki Gregory of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's San Dimas Station.

It is unclear why the man was on the tracks. He died at the scene.

Detectives are investigating, Gregory said. Passengers aboard southbound Train 311 were asked to board another train.
