March 03--A Dolton man was stabbed to death Tuesday evening in the West Garfield Park neighborhood following a dispute, police said.
The 25-year-old man was stabbed in the chest in the 3900 block of West Jackson Boulevard about 5:45 p.m. and pronounced dead at the scene, said Officer Thomas Sweeney, a Chicago police spokesman. He was pronounced dead at 6:03 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
The man was identified as Frederick L. Brown, of the 14600 block of Shepard Drive in Dolton in the south suburbs, according to the medical examiner's office. Officials previously gave another address for the man.
The man was in a verbal dispute that turned physical, and the other person in the fight stabbed him, Sweeney said.
The stabbing may have been in retaliation for an earlier robbery, authorities said.
No one was in custody in the killing.
An autopsy conducted Wednesday determined that Brown died of multiple stab wounds to the chest, and his death was ruled a homicide, according to the medical examiner's office.
