BRIEF: Man stabbed to death in Koreatown after intervening in argument

Nov. 05--A man was stabbed to death in Koreatown on Wednesday morning after police said he tried to intervene in an argument between a man and woman.

Los Angeles police responded to 3rd Street and Serrano Avenue about 3 a.m. and found a man bleeding from a stab wound, said Officer Norma Eisenman. Investigators believe the victim interceded in an argument between a man and woman when the man pulled out a knife and attacked.

Authorities initially described the two people arguing as a couple, but there have been conflicting reports on the nature of their relationship, Eisenman said.

The stabbing victim was rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. The man who stabbed him ran off and has not been found. The woman was uninjured, Eisenman said.

There have been six homicides within a mile of Wednesday's killing in the last year, according to the Homicide Report database. It's the first fatal stabbing in Koreatown since 2012.
