BRIEF: Man stabbed in head during gang-related fight in Pilsen

Nov. 22--A 29-year-old man was in serious condition after being stabbed during a gang-related fight Friday night on the West Side, police said.

The man was walking around 9:15 p.m. in the 1100 block of West 18th Street in the Pilsen neighorhood when four male attackers walked up to him, said Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Amina Greer.

A fight started, and one of the attackers stabbed the man in the head with a bottle, Greer said. The 29-year-old is a documented gang member, and the others involved in the fight were from a rival gang, police said.

The man was taken to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where he was listed in serious but stable condition, Greer said.

No additional details were immediately available.
