BRIEF: Man holds suspect for police after being stabbed on Chicago River bridge

May 23--A man attacked on the Washington Street Bridge on Sunday night told police he had stopped to looked at the Chicago River when another man rushed up, stabbed him twice and said, "Give me your wallet."

The victim started yelling, prompting passersby to call 911 while he tried to grab the steak knife from the attacker and slammed him to the ground, holding him until officers arrived, according to a police report.

The victim was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was treated and released.

"I'm in the ER awaiting test results on 2 knife wounds to the abdomen," the victim later posted on his Facebook page. "Neither is life threatening, but they are keeping me overnight to be safe.

"I was mugged on my way home from work," he said. "I managed to subdue the guy who stabbed me."

The suspect was taken to Mercy Hospital for treatment, and charges were pending against him.
