BRIEF: Man stabbed during attempted carjacking, police say

Nov. 30--A 28-year-old man is in serious condition after he was stabbed repeatedly during an attempted carjacking Saturday night, police said.

About 11:10 p.m., the 27-year-old man was in the 4300 block of West Roosevelt Road in Lawndale when he was approached by a group of people, said Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines.

The group attacked the man, stabbing him repeatedly, and tried take the man's vehicle. The group fled when the 27-year-old man began to fight back, Gaines said.

The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition, Gaines said.

As of early Sunday morning, no one was in custody in connection with the attack. Police are investigating.
