BRIEF: Man fatally stabbed on Far South Side

Dec. 26--A man has died after being stabbed in the chest in Roseland on Thursday evening, police said.

The man, 42, was stabbed about 5:35 p.m. in the 300 block of West 111th Place, said Officer Nicole Trainor, a Chicago police spokeswoman. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn with a stab wound to the chest and later was pronounced dead, said Chicago police spokeswoman Officer Amina Greer.

A witness said the man was stabbed during an argument with someone, Greer said.

The Cook County medical examiner's office identified the man as Eugene Bailey of the 1200 block of West 115th Street.

Chicago Tribune reporter Megan Crepeau contributed.
