BRIEF: Man shot to death on Southwest Side is identified

Jan. 13--A man shot to death last week in the Marquette Park neighborhood has been identified, authorities said Tuesday.

Darius C.E. Brown, 21, was shot to death Friday night in the 6600 block of South Fairfield Avenue, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. Brown was pronounced dead on the scene at 9:35 p.m. Friday, after having been shot in the head, the office determined.

Police were called to the scene about 9 p.m. Friday and found a man in a parked minivan, with multiple gunshots to the head, police said at the time. They released no other information about the slaying.

Brown lived in the 7900 block of South Whipple Street, according to the medical examiner's office.
