BRIEF: Man shot to death on Far South Side

Nov. 17--A man was found shot to death on the street in West Pullman neighborhood Sunday evening, police said.

Police were called to the area of 117th Street and Racine Avenue on the Far South Side about 5 p.m., said Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala.

Officers found a 30-year-old man lying on the sidewalk with an apparent gunshot wound to the back, Zala said.

The man was dead on the scene.

Police had no immediate description of how the man might have been killed.

Earlier, at about 3:30 p.m., a 15-year-old boy was injured in a shooting in the 7100 block of South Carpenter Street in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side, Zala said.

The boy suffered a gunshot wound to the leg and was taken to St. Bernard Hospital and Healthcare Center, where his condition had stabilized.

The boy may have accidentally shot himself, police said.
