Feb. 11--A 26-year-old man is in serious condition after being shot in an attempted robbery early Thursday on the West Side, police said.
At about 2:40 a.m., someone approached him in the 200 block of South Lockwood Avenue and announced a robbery, then shot him.
Someone drove him to West Suburban Medical Center with a through-and-through gunshot wound to the abdomen. He later was transported to Stroger Hospital in serious condition.
Police initially said the shooting occurred in the first block of North Latrobe Avenue. That information was later corrected.
