BRIEF: Man shot on Northwest Side dies days later

Dec. 17--A West Side man shot in the Albany Park neighborhood over the weekend died days later, authorities said.

Robert Parra, 23, of the 2400 block of South Albany Avenue, was shot in the 3400 block of West Lawrence Avenue early Sunday and was pronounced dead at Presence St. Francis Hospital at 2:48 a.m. Tuesday, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. Parra and another man, 25, were shot about 2:50 a.m. Saturday, police said at the time.

Parra died of a gunshot wound to the head, the medical examiner's office determined following an autopsy Wednesday.

The two victims were on the sidewalk when someone got out of a vehicle and fired shots, hitting Parra in the leg and the other man in the leg. They both were taken to St. Francis in Evanston, according to police.

No one was in custody in the shooting as of Wednesday, police said.
