Jan. 30--A man was wounded in a shooting on Interstate 57 near south suburban Dixmoor early Saturday morning.
The man, in his 20s, was a passenger in a vehicle traveling north on I-57 between 147th Street and the Cal-Sag Channel when around 3:40 a.m. a white SUV pulled up alongside and someone inside opened fire, according to Illinois State Police.
A 22-year-old man driving the vehicle then lost control and struck the guardrail on the right side of the expressway, state police said.
The man who was shot was one of two passengers inside the vehicle. He suffered a gunshot wound that wasn't life-threatening and was taken to Ingalls Memorial Hospital in Harvey, state police said.
No other details were immediately available about the shooting, and officials were still investigating the incident.
Because of a mapping program that identifies inexact addresses using ZIP Codes instead of incorporated place names, an earlier version of this story incorrectly identified the suburb where the shooting happened as Blue Island.
