BRIEF: Man shot in West Ridge

Dec. 02--A 26-year-old man was hospitalized after being grazed by a bullet during a drive-by shooting in West Ridge early Tuesday morning.

The man was driving a sedan in the 3100 block of West Devon Avenue about 1:40 a.m. when another car pulled alongside it, police said. A gunman inside the car yelled gang slogans and fired shots before fleeing.

A bullet grazed the 26-year-old man on his ear, police said. He was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston where he was listed in good condition.

Following the shooting, the man's car sat in a Dunkin' Donuts parking lot on the block with its lights still on and the rear passenger door ajar. Police taped off the parking lot as an investigator worked.

Police said the victim apparently did not have known gang ties. As of early Tuesday morning, no one was in custody.
