Oct. 02--At least five people were wounded, two critically, in shootings across Chicago since Thursday afternoon, including a 15-year-old boy in the Marquette Park neighborhood, police said.
The boy told police he was on a porch in the 7100 block of South Francisco Avenue around 9:50 p.m. Thursday when someone walked up and opened fire, according to Officer Hector Alfaro, a Chicago police spokesman.
The boy was hit several times in the side and leg and was taken in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center, authorities said.
Other shootings:
--Around 5 a.m. Friday, a 34-year-old man was shot in the Roseland neighborhood on the South Side, according to Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago police spokesman.
He told police he was on the sidewalk near State and 108th streets when he was approached by a group of people. One of them asked who he was. When the man ignored the question, someone pulled a gun and fired, Estrada said.
The man was hit in the ankle and taken to Christ Medical Center in good condition.
--At 12:45 a.m., a 19-year-old man was shot in the South Austin neighborhood. He was on the sidewalk in the 4800 block of West Madison Street when he was hit in the arm, according to Officer Ron Gaines, a Chicago police spokesman.
His friend took him to Rush University Medical Center, and he was later transferred to Stroger Hospital. His condition was stabilized.
--About 7:35 p.m. Thursday, an 18-year-old woman was shot in Little Village, police said. She was shot in the arm and chest in the 2400 block of South Springfield Avenue and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital. Her condition was stabilized, Alfaro said.
A suspect was being questioned, said Officer Thomas Sweeney, a Chicago police spokesman.
--At 3:45 p.m., a 56-year-old man was critically wounded in the North Austin neighborhood, police said.
He was getting out of a car in the 1400 block of North Lorel Avenue when someone inside opened fire. He was shot in the chest, abdomen, back and left arm and taken in critical condition to Mount Sinai Hospital, Alfaro said.
