Man dead, 3 shot in separate shootings

March 04--A man was shot to death and three others were hurt in separate shootings since late Thursday morning on the West and Northwest sides, police said.

A 22-year-old man died after being shot early Friday on the Northwest Side, said Officer Hector Alfaro, a Chicago police spokesman.

About 1:15 a.m. Friday, the man stopped a police officer near the 25th District police station at Grand and Central Park avenues in the Hanson Park neighborhood. The man got out of a sedan and told police he was shot, Alfaro said.

The man suffered a gunshot wound to the back and was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in critical condition. He was later pronounced dead, Alfaro said.

Police are still investigating the shooting, and it's not immediately clear where the shooting occurred.

The Cook County medical examiner's office confirmed the fatality, but the man's name is being withheld pending family notification.

Most recently, a male, whose exact age was not immediately available, was wounded in a shooting about 4:25 a.m. in the Homan Square neighborhood on the West Side, Alfaro said.

The male told police he was in the 3500 block of West Grenshaw Street when he was shot in the shoulder, Alfaro said, citing preliminary information.

The male was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital for treatment, and no other information was immediately available.

About 9:15 p.m. Thursday, a 56-year-old man was wounded in a shooting in the Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side, said Officer Veejay Zala, a police spokesman.

The man was outside in the 1300 block of South Troy Street when he heard gunshots and realized he was struck, Zala said.

The man suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his legs. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition stabilized, Zala said.

No other information about the shooting was immediately available.

Earlier, a man was shot during a robbery about 9:30 a.m. in the Humboldt Park neighborhood, according to police.

The man, 36, was shot in the chest near Chicago and St. Louis avenues, police said.

He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, and doctors stabilized his condition, police said.

No one was immediately in custody in the shootings.
