April 21--A 39-year-old Chicago man was shot dead on Interstate 57 in the south suburbs Wednesday night.
Steven Hudson was driving south about 10:25 p.m. near the Calumet Sag Channel when another vehicle pulled alongside him and someone inside fired shots, according to Illinois State Police.
Hudson was hit multiple times and lost control of the car. It crashed into a concrete barrier on the right side of the expressway, which propelled the car backward across all the lanes until it collided with a barrier on the left.
Police responding to the crash found that Hudson had been shot. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
There were no other occupants inside the victim's vehicle, state police said.
Southbound lanes were shut down from 130th Street to the canal as investigators canvassed the area.
