BRIEF: Man in critical condition after being shot, driving to McDonald's

Oct. 28--A man who drove to a McDonald's after being shot in Arleta was in critical condition Monday night, police said.

The shooting, at Van Nuys Boulevard and Arleta Avenue, occurred about 3:50 p.m., said LAPD Officer Drake Madison.

The man drove half a mile from where he was shot and stopped at a McDonald's in Pacoima at Laurel Canyon Boulevard and Van Nuys Boulevard.

The victim was taken to a hospital, Madison said.

"He was trying to get away," Madison said. "He couldn't drive anymore and made it to that McDonald's."

Madison said it appears as though someone other than the victim made the 911 call.

The motive for the shooting was not known, and there was no suspect description.
