BRIEF: Man's death ruled season's 24th cold-related death

March 16--The death of a 56-year-old homeless man found in November has been attributed to the cold, pushing the number of cold-related deaths this season to 24, officials said.

Oleh Tytarenko was found in an abandoned building in the 3400 block of North Narragansett Avenue, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

He was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:45 p.m. Nov. 14, according to the office.

An autopsy determined that he died of hypertensive arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease. Secondary causes were determined to be acute alcohol toxicity and cold exposure, according to the office.

Last winter -- during which Chicago had record-breaking low temperatures -- 32 cold-related deaths were counted in Cook County from Oct. 24, 2013, through April 3, 2014, officials said.
