BRIEF: Man robs West Side bank hours after robbery on North Side

Jan. 20--A man who robbed a bank in Little Italy on Tuesday had robbed another bank less than two hours earlier in the Magnolia Glen neighborhood on the North Side, authorities said.

The man robbed a Chase bank in the Little Italy neighborhood about 5:50 p.m., according to authorities.

The man walked into the branch at 1130 W. Taylor St. and robbed the bank of cash, said FBI spokesman Special Agent Garrett Croon. No injuries were reported.

The man also robbed a branch of the MB Financial Bank, 5918 N. Broadway at 4:38 p.m. Tuesday, according to Croon, clarifying information on the BanditTrackerChicago.com website. Croon had said that the Broadway robbery was an attempted, but he later clarified to say that information was incorrect.

The robber was described as a black man between the ages of 25 and 35, about 6 feet tall and with a medum build. In both robberies he was wearing a black hat, gray scarf, gray jacket, black pants and tan boots. Surveillance photos show he also wearing a gray, white and black-striped scarf. He was last seen walking west from the bank on Taylor.
