Feb. 21--A man robbed a Near North Side bank Saturday morning, police said.
The man entered the bank in the first block of West Huron Street about 10:40 a.m., Chicago police spokesman Thomas Sweeney said. An MB Financial Bank branch at 33 W. Huron was robbed, FBI Chicago spokeswoman Joan Hyde said in an email.
The man handed a teller a note implying that he had a weapon and made off with cash, Sweeney said. The man was last seen fleeing north from the bank, Hyde said. Officials did not release information on how much money was stolen.
The robber was described as a black man in his mid-20s with a thin build and medium complexion, according to the FBI. Although Hyde initially said the man might be 5-foot-8 or 5-foot-9, officials later revised the description to say the man was about 6 feet tall. He was last seen wearing a green jacket or hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and a black cap.
Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call 911 or the Chicago office of the FBI, 312-421-6700.
