BRIEF: Man robs bank on Northwest Side

March 07--A man robbed a bank in a grocery store Sunday afternoon in the Schorsch Forest View neighborhood on the Northwest Side, authorities said.

The man robbed the TCF Bank, 4734 N. Cumberland Ave., about 1:19 p.m., according to the FBI. The bank branch is in a Jewel-Osco store at that location.

The man went up to a teller, demanded cash and implied he had a weapon, said Officer Bari Lemmon, a Chicago police spokeswoman. The man was given cash and he left the bank, Lemmon said.

The robber left the bank through an entrance at the south end of the store, according to the FBI.

No one was injured in the robbery.

The robber is described as a white man, possibly in his 40s, standing 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10 and weighing between 150 and 170 pounds. He was last seen wearing what may have been a brown coat and a blue sweater over blue jeans.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or the Chicago office of the FBI, 312 421-6700.
