Jan. 05--A man suspected in two Near North Side bank robberies in December was arrested following the attempted robbery of an Old Town bank this weekend, authorities said Sunday.
The man, who has not yet been identified by authorities, tried to rob a bank in the 1200 block of North Clark Street about 2 p.m. Saturday, said Police spokeswoman Officer Bari Lemmon. The man handed a note to a teller, but fled before he took any money, and Chicago police officers were able to catch him a short time later, Lemmon said.
The robbery took place at a TCF Bank branch in the Jewel-Osco at 1210 N. Clark St., according to the FBI's BanditTracker website.
The man was turned over the to the FBI, Lemmon said.
In addition to the TCF Bank robbery attempt, the man also is suspected of robbing a North Community Bank branch at 2 W. Elm St. on Wednesday, and a Bank of America branch at 515 N. LaSalle St. about 5:35 p.m. on Dec. 19, according to the BanditTracker website.
