BRIEF: Man nabbed by police after robbing bank in Greektown

Dec. 12--A man was caught a short distance away from the bank he was suspected of robbing Saturday morning in the city's Greektown neighborhood.

Not long after 10 a.m., the man walked into a bank on the 100 block of South Halsted Street and handed a teller a note demanding money, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago police spokeswoman. The Man robbed the Fifth Third Bank branch, 100 S. Halsted St., at 10:13 a.m., according to the FBI's BanditTrackerChicago.com website.

Once he got an undisclosed amount of cash, he fled the scene. But he was caught a short distance away and arrested, police said.

Although the man is in custody, the FBI asked that anyone with information about the robbery call their Chicago office at 312-421-6700.
