BRIEF: Man killed on Northwest Side identified

May 28--A man shot to death in the Irving Park neighborhood on Memorial Day has been identified, officials said Wednesday.

Felix Diaz, 29, was shot Monday in the 4100 block of North Hamlin Avenue and pronounced dead at 4:40 p.m. that day at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, Cook County medical examiner's office spokesman Frank Shuftan said in an email Wednesday.

Diaz was shot just after 2:30 p.m. Monday, police said that day.

Diaz was a passenger in a car when another car pulled alongside, and someone fired shots. The victim suffered gunshot wounds to the torso and was taken in critical condition to Illinois Masonic, police said.

Diaz, of the 3300 block of West Belle Plaine Avenue, died of multiple gunshot wounds, the medical examiner's office determined following an autopsy Tuesday.
