BRIEF: Man killed in crash in Barrington Hills

Aug. 06--A Hoffman Estates man was killed in a single-car crash Wednesday afternoon in northwest suburban Barrington Hills.

About 1:15 p.m., a 1998 Infiniti I30 was traveling on Old Sutton Road north of Algonquin Road when it left the roadway, struck a tree and overturned, according to a release from the Barrington Hills Police Department.

Kiril Kountchev, 26, of Hoffman Estates, who was driving the Infiniti, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the release.

No one else was in the car, and no other injuries were reported, authorities said.

Police officers closed Old Sutton near Algonquin until about 5:30 p.m. as a result of the crash, according to the release.

The accident is under investigation by Barrington Hills police, the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team and the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to contact the authorities.
