May 08--A man was killed in a car crash early Sunday in the Woodlawn neighborhood, police said.

A man was in a 2003 Kia Sorento traveling south in the 6500 block of South Cornell Drive when he veered from the roadway and hit a tree around 5:25 a.m., said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago police spokesman.

The man, whose exact age was not immediately available, was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, Estrada said.

No one else was injured in the accident, and no other information was immediately available.
