BRIEF: Man killed by Metra train on the Far South Side

March 03--A man died Monday afternoon after being struck by a Metra Electric Line train on the Far South Side, officials said.

The accident happened at 95th Street and the Metra Electric Line tracks in the Rosemoor neighborhood on the Far South Side, said Metra spokesman Michael Gillis.

Metra officials earlier said that the victim was a child but further investigation determined that the victim was a man in his mid- to late 20s, according to Gillis.

The accident happened at 5:35 p.m. and involved the Metra Electric Line Train No. 705, Gillis said. The train had left the Millennium Park station and was due into University Park at 5:55 p.m., according to Metra.

Trains were stopped at 95th Street but began moving again at 6:15 p.m., Gillis said.
