BRIEF: Man killed, boy wounded in food truck shooting

Jan. 23--A 24-year-old man was killed and a teenage boy was wounded Thursday night in what police say was a gang-on-gang shooting at a food truck in North Hills.

The man and the 16-year-old were eating at the food truck near Rayen Street and Sepulveda Boulevard about 9:50 p.m. when they were approached by three rival gang members, according to Los Angeles police.

Two of the gang members beat the boy, police said, while the third suspect led the man a few yards away and shot him several times.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said, and the teen was grazed by a bullet, possibly when it ricocheted off his friend.

No arrests have been made in the case. Police said they plan to increase patrols in the next several days to reduce the threat of gang retaliations.

The man's death is the third homicide in North Hills in the last 12 months, according to The Times' Homicide Report.

Antonio Ricardo Mancilla, 41, was stabbed to death Nov. 7 in the 11900 block of North Balboa Boulevard. On May 15, Natalie Marie Rashkov, 32, died in the 15500 block of Chase Street.
