BRIEF: Man is shot and wounded by police at Ontario hotel after flashing a gun, authorities say

March 16--A 44-year-old man was shot and injured by police Tuesday night after he flashed a firearm at officers outside a hotel in Ontario, officials said.

The shooting occurred at 11:05 p.m. at the Quality Inn in the 500 block of North Vineyard Avenue, where Ontario police confronted Alfredo Armando Morales, according to Cpl. Fred Alvarez.

Morales was wanted in Pomona for making death threats, and Pomona police had tracked him to the Ontario hotel, according to Alvarez. Because they believed Morales might be armed, the Pomona officers requested assistance from Ontario police before moving in to arrest him.

Officers were getting ready to contact Morales when he walked out of the hotel, Alvarez said. That's when the shooting occurred.

Morales was taken to an area hospital where he was listed in stable condition.

No officers were hurt during the shooting.
