BRIEF: Man is found shot to death in Leimert Park

Jan. 02--A man was found shot to death in Leimert Park early Saturday in what may have been a gang-related shooting, according to Los Angeles police.

The victim was discovered with a single gunshot wound to the head about 2:45 a.m. near the staircase of a building in the 4600 block of Crenshaw Boulevard, police said.

The building has a bookstore on the first floor and apartment units on the second floor.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics, police said. The Los Angeles County Coroner said the victim has not been identified pending a death notification to next of kin.

Tyshon Wesley, who identified herself as the victim's sister, was at the scene of the shooting Saturday morning. She said her brother was Mohammed Wesley, 33.

She said her brother was attending a party at the location when he was killed. She said the police gave her few details.

"The only thing I know is that he was shot from the back, execution style." she said.

She described her brother, who was not married, as a good person who looked out for his family.
