BRIEF: Man injured when car hits building in Lakeview

Sept. 11--A man was hospitalized after his car struck a building early Friday in the Lakeview neighborhood on the North Side, police said.

The man was driving a black Acura in the 3500 block of North Lincoln Avenue when he smashed into a two-story building and several trees on the northeast side of the road shortly before 4 a.m., according to police.

Police officers found the man, who appeared to be in his 20s, walking nearby after they arrived at the crash scene.

The man was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center where his exact condition was not immediately known, police said.

Early Friday, a smashed Acura stood in the middle of Lincoln Avenue.

The crash broke windows on the first floor of the two-story white building, which houses Kent Realty and Cut Cats Courier businesses. Some of the building's bricks as well as uprooted trees and other debris were scattered on the sidewalk.

The cause of the crash was still under investigation early Friday, police said.
