Jan. 22--A man was critically injured after he jumped from a second floor inside the Art Institute of Chicago in a possible suicide attempt, officials said.
The incident happened at 12:37 p.m. when a man in his 30s jumped from the second floor of the cafe balcony on the the first floor of the Modern Wing of the museum, according to a statement released by museum officials.
According to the statement, the man had been behaving "erratically" before jumping over the railing, officials said. No one else was injured.
According to Chicago police the man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition.
The Modern Wing was temporarily closed but was reopened after police responded and concluded their investigation. The other areas of the museum remained open.
Police suspect that the incident may have been a suicide attempt.
