BRIEF: 1 dead, 1 wounded in city shootings

Dec. 03--A man has been killed and another has been wounded in shootings since Wednesday afternoon, Chicago police said.

At about 6 a.m. Thursday, a 63-year-old man was killed in West Pullman, said Officer Ana Pacheco, a police spokeswoman.

He was discovered in the 12000 block of South Michigan Avenue with a gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

At 4:40 p.m. Wednesday, a 32-year-old man was wounded in a shooting in the Brighton Park neighborhood, police said.

He was walking in the 4000 block of South Rockwell Street when a gray minivan stopped near him, said Officer Ron Gaines, a police spokesman.

An attacker stepped out of the minivan, fired shots and drove away.

The man was struck in the left thigh. His friend took him to St. Anthony Hospital, where the man's condition stabilized, Gaines said.
