BRIEF: Man, girl injured in pit bull attack in Lawndale

April 01--A man and a girl were injured after being attacked by a pit bull Tuesday evening in the Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side, police said.

The pit bull came out of a yard in the 3900 block of West Fillmore Street around 8 p.m. and bit a male adult and a 15-year-old girl, police said.

The 15-year-old had a bite wound to the right arm and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where she was listed in good condition, police said.

The dog also bit the man, whose age was not available, on his left hand, police said. It was not clear where the man was taken for treatment.

The dog and its owner fled after the incident, and no one was in custody as of early Wednesday.
