Rondon was also ordered to pay a $1,480 fine, along with restitution to the victim's family, the amount of which will be determined in August, Wei said.

The collision occurred just before 7:30 a.m. one October Sunday in 2014.

The woman was walking eastbound on Victory Boulevard, crossing the street legally at Hollywood Way, when she was struck by a delivery van making a right turn onto Victory Boulevard, police said.

The woman was rushed to the hospital, where she died.
