Dec. 10--Chicago Tribune Media Company's Lake County News-Sun: A former Zion resident was sentenced to a total of 68 years for the 2012 kidnapping of a man and a woman and the sexual assault of the woman.

Cristian De La O Hernandez, 24, was sentenced to 40 years in prison for aggravated kidnapping and 28 years for aggravated criminal sexual assault.

According to authorities, Hernandez went with a friend to an Atlanta club on April 30, 2012, where he met two women and convinced them to leave with him. Hernandez then shot one of the women, Jacqueline Ramon, in the head, killing her, and left her body in a car.

Officials said Hernandez then abducted his male friend and the other woman, who had witnessed the shooting, and drove with them from Atlanta to a motel in Beach Park, sexually assaulting the woman once on the trip and once in the motel.
